Going Home for the Holidays – A Marketing Opportunity

Have you ever found yourself reflecting back on your childhood; the holidays with friends and family, the school bus driver or the long walks to school with your siblings and friends from the neighborhood?

With Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner many people will be returning home to visit parents and other family members. While visiting they will remember old friends, first dates and much more.

You may find that you are currently listing a house that was at one point or another someone’s best friend’s home or that house that someone always admired or envied growing up.  Imagine the curiosity that some might experience when they are home for the holidays, driving by those memory inducing homes and seeing a sign rider out front letting them know that the house could be theirs!

Sure you’ve put a sign out in front of the house and that person could call you or remember your web address, but chances are the first thing they are going to do is go on their way and not think about this until after the holidays.  However, when they do remember what they discovered, they may not remember your Name or Website Address; they might need to head over to Google and type in the property address to find it instead.

Are you taking great care with your marketing to remember the locals when promoting your website?  Does your website rank in Google for the property addresses that you are listing?

It is fairly easy to get your website ranking in Google for an address and while ranking for this keyword term may not bring you another thousand visitors a month, it will make the process much easier for those who know what house they want, they just don’t know who is in charge of selling it.

This season consider promoting individual properties on your home page or custom interior pages instead of only displaying/talking about them in your Featured Listings or within your MLS / IDX.  Give these homes the advertising attention they deserve and reach out to the people who have a specific property in mind.

Imagine how enjoyable an experience it will be when you’re working with a potential buyer that has fond memories of that area or home. Not only does that make for a great testimonial, but also a great advertising niche. After all, not everyone has “dreamed up” their fantasy home; some of them know exactly where that home is located. Help them find out how to make that home their own by making it easy for them to find it on the internet. Maybe next year, you’ll have a great story and a picture to display on your site for the holidays; all about the family who bought their dream home, which you made possible
