Use Favorite
Links to Entice Prospects to visit Your Website
Your Advanced Access
website provides you with a special section called Favorite
Links. Through Favorite Links, you can add links to
other websites you think are unique and interesting to your target
market. (We set up some default links in this section such as
Amazon, MapQuest, and a link to Yahoo, which are fairly
"generic" but will get you started.)
The Favorite Links
page should be a reflection of YOU and your interests. It
should contain links you think are helpful, interesting and
enjoyable to your website visitors. The research involved can be
rewarding - especially if you find sites that your prospects will
use and refer to often through your website.
You can use Favorite
Links as a powerful marketing tool to drive more traffic to your
website. For example, Tax Season is just getting started - why
not strike up a conversation by letting a friend or family member
know you found 'this GREAT website that gives me all these tips
about saving money on my taxes!' Send them directly to YOUR website
in the process, and tell them to click on Favorite Links.
Judy
Peterson from Philadelphia has built up her Favorite Links
section through her 'General' category, with links in subjects such
as 'Family Fun Stuff', 'Kids Only', 'School Districts', 'Township
Info', and an informative Seniors section.
Judy says, "First
and foremost, my goal has always been to offer my clients and
visitors a "value added" service. The Favorite Links
section is a great way to convey my personal concern for my
clients needs!"
"I like to be able to say, 'drop
by My Favorite Links and you'll find some helpful information' on
whatever my clients concerns are. Since all real estate is
ultimately local, a good selection of local links, schools, township
and local government, train and commuting schedules, senior centers,
etc. as well as family activities and fun stuff helps relocating
families get acclimated and even opens up possibilities in community
attractions to long time residents."
"When I make my post settlement
follow-up phone calls, one of my questions is usually, how could I
have helped you better? How else can I help you now? So, some of my
links have been added in response to those questions. I'm slowly
adding Holidays. Which reminds me, Feb 14th is coming up. I better
get busy!"
Florence Tanner
from Punta Gorda, Florida, is another example of how to use the
Favorite Links program as a essential resource for her clients.
Florence has taken the time to create specific categories that
provide vital information to her website visitors.
Punta Gorda is a unique community with a large percentage of
retirees. Florence has provided a number of interesting websites
that relate to the retirement community such as HouseOfCards, Bridge
links, and the rules and history of Mahjong. Florence has also found
that Geneology is a subject in which her visitors are interested.
Joel
Hawk from San Diego uses his Favorite Links program for an
extensive referral program.
"My Favorite Links provide
several benefits for my web visitors. Obviously, one is to provide
thorough information and to encourage repeat visits. Advanced
Access has made it so easy to set up different categories so
visitors can navigate easily to areas that interest them. One of the
comments that I hear from clients very often is, "Wow, your
site is so full of information. Why would anyone go anywhere
else?" I normally don't have an answer."
"I am retired military, so I
have a section of links specifically of interest to our Veterans. I
serve with several different service organizations, so visitors who
are interested in getting more information about those organizations
can get there quickly. And I provide the opportunity for visitors
who are relocating to other areas of our great Nation and Canada to
check out some like-minded Realtors. And then I have a
"catch-all" category called General where I place
miscellaneous reciprocal links."
"Another reason to encourage
reciprocal linking is the more similar links one has pointing back
to "their" website from other websites is, it improves
your website's rankings on the major search engines. My business has
exploded in recent months simple due to the marketing and
improvements of my website, but I suspect more directly as a result
of the reciprocal linking. And the best thing yet, Advanced Access
is there anytime I have a question or problem.
Another very important feature
that Advanced Access provides includes the ability to add whole new
pages. I have a page of reciprocal links for web savvy Realtors who
are ePRO certified. This list is devoted to those who go the extra
mile for their clients using the Internet. But, you can create a
page full of specific links for any topic if you wish. My website
has more than paid for itself several times over. That alone is
worth the effort and besides, it's fun."
As we've discussed in previous
Marketing Tips, an important marketing strategy to help increase the
number of links from other websites to your site is called
"reciprocal linking". The best part about this marketing
strategy is that it costs nothing to implement, it can be a great
referral source, and has the potential of bringing in many closed
transactions per year without too much additional effort. The
Favorite Links section is the perfect location for you to set up
your reciprocal link partners.
How YOU make use of your Favorite
Links section should be a reflection your own interests and those of
the market you serve. Think about the websites you visit on a
regular basis. Many of the same websites might be of interest to
your prospective visitors.
For example, if you
enjoy art, you might want to provide a link to the World Wide Arts
Resource at wwar.com - Or to
find the latest news at the Art & Culture site, here is a great
link for you:
www.artandculture.com/ACSniffer.
If you love animals
(most people can relate to this particular interest), you
can always provide links to
www.petsmart.com
or
www.petfinder.org
to find your perfect pet.
Other resources you
might want to consider could be interesting facts, a joke of the day
site, or special information regarding your area.
An interesting site
regarding 'wacky uses' for household items could be found at:
www.wackyuses.com.
Need to find someone?
Try out www.anywho.com
who partners with AT&T to find anyone in the world.
