The Best Kind of Mailing
To Your Past Clients; And
It's Basically Free To You!

By Bill Koelzer

What is it? Clipping and sending them little articles or email pages that you think they'd find interesting.

You SHOULD have a profile written on each one of your buyers and sellers that tells you, at minimum, the following:

  • Age
  • Occupation (husband and wife)
  • Kids (names and ages and school attended for each)
  • Hobbies
  • Vacation preferences

Armed with the knowledge contained therein, just do the following. Every time you see a web page or print publication page that would likely interest one of your prospects---SEND IT TO HIM.

That's it. If it is an email, write a nice cover note...something like this.

    Dear Jake:

You are such a golf aficionado, that I thought this article on Tiger Woods' secrets of putting from Family Outdoors Magazine might be of interest to you.

This publication (or web site) carries a great many stories about professional golfers and "how to play better golf." Because of that, I have taken out a subscription for you, and you should receive your first issue next month. (or, your web site membership should be valid right now)

Hello to Lola and the kids for me, and let me know if you or any of your friends need any help on realty matters.

    Cordially,

    Sammy Sellezabunch, e-PRO, CRS

What could be easier? Plus, it's not a "canned" mailing. The recipients will feel that it's from your heart, just because you cared about them. Moreover, it's personalized to THEM. Try it beginning now. Sometimes the best things in life are (almost) free, right?

    How To Close Up Folders
    In Outlook Express So They
    Aren't a Mile Long Anymore

    By Bill Koelzer

Agents who liberally create folders and subfolders, and give a name to them in Outlook Express, and then file old emails in them, are often annoyed because the folders may suddenly get stuck OPEN, showing all the subfolders that they contain.

This of course makes the list of alphabetically displayed folders quite lengthy, since now the main subject matter folder, PLUS the names of all their subfolders, and even their subfolders, and even more subfolders (if any exist) appear, too.

This makes it take far longer to find a given email since you must scroll down farther to find your choice by alphabetic position. Here's how you solve that problem:

    1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

    2. On the General tab, click to clear the Automatically display folders with unread messages check box.

    3. Click OK.

Once this is done, the main folders all close up, displaying a + sign alongside each one. Now it takes far less time to scan the list to find what you want. The list might suddenly become 1/10th its former length with hundreds LESS folder names displayed.

When you DO choose to open a folder after applying the above fix, just click on the + to the left of the folder, and it turns into a - (minus) sign, with all the subfolders, and sub, sub, sub folders that you created displayed below it. When you are finished, just click on the - sign to close the folder back tightly again.
