"What's Your Personal Marketing IQ?"

Welcome to the first of several “pop quizzes”!  In the coming months we will periodically feature an important real estate related topic and give you an opportunity to test your knowledge on the subject.  We begin with personal marketing.

How exactly do you let prospects know about you and your services?  What do you say?  What steps do you take to gain their business?  How do you even get prospects in the first place, and how do you reach them?  Cold Calling?  Postcards?  Sky Writing?...

Your first step is to develop a personal marketing plan.  Having a plan of action for your business takes out so much of the guesswork and minimizes mistakes that occur when you just try to “wing it”.  Of course, there will always be changes you make as your experience continues, but with a personal marketing plan in place you will be able to judge more effectively what needs to change, and what’s working best.

A personal marketing plan should not simply be a generic list of sales tactics and inventory of marketing materials…that’s not a plan, that’s no more than a short list of stuff sitting on your desk.  What do you do with that stuff?  There’s where the need for a plan comes into play.  What are the ingredients for an effective personal marketing plan?  Your plan should include a market analysis, goals, a budget, and a schedule.  None of these items really work without the others.  You may have lofty goals, but a limited budget…you need to do a market analysis to decide what’s best and get the most bang for your buck.  And you need to actually do it, not just plan to do it, which is where the schedule comes in.

It’s up to you to know who your target market is, develop the goals, crunch the numbers, and fill in your day planner, PDA, etc.

Take the Personal Marketing Plan IQ Quiz to test your knowledge.  We already gave you the answer to the first question…good luck on the rest!!

Read the following from real estate professionals who are using Advanced Access' Marketing Tips to their advantage:

Cindi Hancock says:
"I just want to tell you that Scott was the BEST person I've ever spoken to at Advanced Access. Scott was very patient, even when we came across a glitch adding a new $3.6 listing to my web-site. He went for extra help. He had me fax him the glitch page on the spot. He came up with some creative ideas on his own, addressed my concerns straight-forwardly, and again, was very generous with his time and was patient with me. I feel I finally found "my guy" at Advance Access!"

Lynn Blue says:
"I continue to be impressed with the customer service. Any question gets resolved quickly, and I have called a number of times in the past month. I am sure I will be talking to one of you soon, as I refine my website further. Thank you."

Georgianne Belknap says:
"I really appreciate how persistent Carlos was in getting to the point of exactly what help I needed. I knew what I wanted but didn't know the proper terms to use. I appreciate how Carlos stuck it out without getting impatient with me and in helping me through the process. Thank you Carlos!!"
