Is your website ready to be MUMMIFIED?!
I know, I know, it’s a holiday, and you’re supposed to be off the hook on a holiday, right? Well, we here at Advanced Access do wish you and your family a very safe and happy Halloween, and although your costume may make you look ready to be placed in an ancient tomb, we hope your website doesn’t qualify for mummification!
Don’t you always wish that people would come knocking at YOUR door asking for YOU instead of you doing all the door knocking? Well each Halloween your wish comes true! Put your wrapped candies in baggies with business cards, or a small gift with your website address on it...parents will be inspecting candy, make sure your branding is there when they check yours. And when people get to your site, make sure they have something to look at and keep them there.
Have fun this Halloween, and remember, cobwebs are a decoration, not for collecting on your site!
And now, a Halloween story for your entertainment…
The air was thick as the sky darkened after twilight’s fade. Autumn fallen leaves danced in a swirl just above the chilled ground. The sound of branches scratching against window panes could be heard faintly over the shrill wind whistling through the night.
To the east there was a gnarled tree; its limbs stretching nearly beyond imagination. The trunk stood tall and the roots ran deep, but there was no longer life in the petrified boughs. And beneath the ground, there, underneath its mangled canopy, the sound of pounding began to echo.
Stronger and louder the sound became until my heartbeat took on the same rhythm. Louder and louder the pounding grew, and then: absolute silence. I held my breath in fear. Just then, the dirt beneath the tree began to lift and turn as if something below was trying to escape. Feeling I should run, I turned to go, but my feet would not carry me. Staring, my body frozen in place, I waited.
The ground trembled as one bandaged hand emerged from the soil. Slowly another hand, and then arms, then the mummy’s bandaged face came up from the ground until he was standing before me. I couldn’t run, couldn’t scream, I couldn’t think of what to do. I shuddered and stammered out a frightened, “hello.” Then the mummy stood with one hand on his hip and extended the other one to me and said, “hey’a buddy, the name’s Bob, lemme give you a business card; I do parties.” Now THAT’s marketing!
