This is your Marketing Tip of the Week from Advanced Access!

Linking strategies are an essential type of site promotion. The more links pointing to your site, the more traffic you'll experience (and the greater perceived "popularity" will rank you higher in the search engines).

To get someone to link to your site you need to ask. The simplest way is to find complementary sites, link to them on your favorite links page, and ask them to link to you. (You can add links to your favorite links page through your Virtual Office!)

You probably belong to various real estate associations that feature member sites. Ask for a link if you don't have one yet. Even if you have to pay something for a link, it will bring you the kind of targeted traffic you crave.

The good news is that there are many real estate related sites that are willing to link to your web site for free (or for a small cost), and that will drive all this targeted traffic to your web site.

  • Real Estate ABC is one of my favorite sites that offers this service.  Real Estate ABC has a unique rating system and they will provide you with three exclusive community links.  The communities are split up by zip code, and since the links are exclusive there is much competition for each community.  I highly recommend that you go here first! Click here to register!

  • Another great website is The Real Estate Net.  This website charges $10.00 for the year to add your site to three locations.  You can also add a small description after your Internet address to entice people to click on your link.

  • Reals.com is a real estate directory where you can add your site for free.  Enhanced listings are a small fee, but make you stand out more.  Draws a lot of traffic with the enhanced listing.

  • Realty Times should be added to your list as well.  They provide the latest in agent news and draw a lot of traffic.  Apply for a 'Site of the Day' award, and also sign up to be in their Agent Finder section.  (It costs $50.00 a year for five cities.)

  • A Directory of Real Estate and Homes web site does a lot of search engine promotion for their site.  The fee is $299.00 for one year.

  • Real Estate Pro's has a free Top 100 list with the option of upgrading to a Trial, Silver, Gold, or Platinum listing on their website.  The Top 100 is free, but the upgrades have small fees with them.

  • IRED.com is another great place to list your site.  They will direct a lot of traffic if you have one of their enhanced listings.  This will place your site at the top of the list, and in bold letters.  (It makes it stand out more.)  They will list your site for free, but enhanced listings cost a small amount.

  • Real Estate Web has a very easy to navigate web site. You will definitely want to add your link for free at this site.

  • At Today's Agent you can add your site for a small fee.

To find a comprehensive list of over 50 sites that will link to Realtors, click here.  Real Estate ABC keeps a list of up to date sites that will link straight to you.  The really good ones that I recommend are listed above.

Now let me remind you again why you need to go to the above links and sign up.  The people that are browsing on these sites are already interested in either buying or selling a home.  This is a targeted audience to whom you would be advertising to.  You need to be listed right in front of them to catch their attention.

At the very least go to the free sites and sign up!  See what it brings you.  All you have to do is check your site statistics to see if the site is bringing you any traffic.  The price is right for those listings!

If you are really unsure about the sites that require a small fee, just think about them while you are testing out the free listings.  The sites that I listed above are ones that I know will bring you traffic.  Try a couple of them out.
