How to QUICKLY Advertise Your Website!

Many of our clients have expressed an interest in being guaranteed a top listing in a search engine. Who wouldn't? Aside from the regular search engines to which Advanced Access submits your website, there are other avenues of advertisement that can cause YOUR website to be placed at the TOP of the search engines. The easiest way to buy your way into the MOST major search engines is by using Goto.com.

As I was performing some general searches on GoTo.com, I ran into Buddy Blake, of Wilmington, North Carolina. Upon searching for the keywords of "Wilmington Real Estate", I find BuddyBlake.com in the #1 position of GoTo.com! (As of 06/08/01) If you view the image below, you can see that Buddy's 'Cost per Click' is $0.38.

$0.38 per click is actually a very good price for top placement in one of the major search engines! Buddy Blake paid $0.38 to be in the NUMBER ONE POSITION for not only GoTo, but MANY other search engines as well. The best thing about GoTO is that you don't have to start out with a large investment. The minimum amount you have to start out with is $50.00. You also pay per click. This means that a certain amount of money is deducted from your account every time someone clicks on your site. The average amount per click is usually somewhere from $0.10 a click to $2.00 a click. This greatly depends on the amount of traffic and competition in your geographic area.

WebSnapshot publishes up-to-the-day statistics regarding web usage patterns and profiles for use by media organizations and other interested parties. Checking out their website, it is showing AOL as the #4 most popular search engine in the world. In performing another search for "Wilmington Real Estate" on AOL.com, Buddy Blake shows up as #1 for that keyword. You can see below that Buddy is even ABOVE the top sites, and listed in the category specifying 'Sponsored Links'. Those sponsored links are a result of Buddy's investment in GoTo.com.

Altavista being one of the most recognized search engines also has an affiliation with GoTo.com.  In typing in those SAME KEYWORDS "Wilmington Real Estate", Buddy Blake is also showing up in the NUMBER ONE POSITION in Altavista.com.

Buddy Blake has set up a simple advertisement plan using GoTo.com. In positioning himself within GoTo.com, Buddy immediately gained access to EIGHT other Top Ten Search Engines. Those search engines are: AOL, Lycos, Altavista, CNet, HotBot, Netscape, iWon, and Go.com.

Tips from Debbie Ferrari for Bidding on GoTo.com: For bidding on the more expensive keywords, your TITLE AND DESCRIPTION are very important. And remember, you only have to be in the top THREE spots on GoTo.com to reach 75% of internet searchers.

For example, the top 2 bidders might be agents who are NOT servicing YOUR SPECIFIC CITY or area, but instead are generalists, allegedly servicing the entire county. In such cases, you can reduce your bid to just high enough to stay in the top three because people will STILL see that you serve only the one or two cities that YOU name in your title/description.

If you were to bid on 10 keywords, your cost would probably run approximately $25-$50 per month. Debbie's advice is to use the GoTo Suggestion Tool before you bid on any keywords through GoTo.com.

Take a moment to browse through some of the listings on GoTo.com for your chosen keyword. See what your competitors are saying. Also, see what catches *your* eye. Then, write down what you want your information to say. Don't worry to much, if you want to change it later, you can.
