This is your Marketing Tip of the Week from Advanced Access!

This week I am going to cover additional ideas for promoting your website online and off.  It is important to always be thinking about new ideas to drive traffic to your website.  Have you been online for a couple of months, or are you new to the Web?  If you are wondering where to go next, I've listed eight ideas below to keep you busy for awhile.

1.  The first set of people who should know about your website are your family and friends. Ask them to help you promote your web site to their friends. Ask them for any suggestions, too.

2. Send out invitations to visit your website to your family and friends that have email addresses. Ask for referrals from them and to help you spread the word to others.

Talking with your friends and family about your website can generate you a good number of hits on the first few days as everyone will be flocking to see what’s new about you.  After the first couple of days make sure to check your statistics through your virtual office to see how effective your promotion was.  Also, pay attention to responses, comments and suggestions from friends and family.

Even though your website will attract new visitors every day, you must keep coming up with new ways of promoting your site.

3. Try printing flyers for distribution in your farming neighborhoods and areas near you.  Mention on the flyer that your site features important community news, school info, and free reports that would interest them on your website.  Make sure the flyers are simple and tastefully done.

4. Order reprints of your business cards, with your website URL printed on them.  It is essential that you order new business cards with your website URL immediately.  Do not wait for three more months until you run out of cards.  Do it now!  Think about putting your website URL in a slightly larger font then your phone numbers.  Doing so will make your website stand out.  Give your card to everyone you know, and to everyone that you meet.

5. Talk about your website whenever you have the opportunity to meet new acquaintances.

6. In an earlier Marketing Tip, I mentioned adding your website URL to your voice mail.  This will ensure that any new client prospects will learn about your site, and know you are Internet savvy.

7. Participate in discussion forums. A lot of websites provide message boards to attract traffic. You can post messages and invitations to your site in these message boards.  Make sure you have something valid to say at the board though, and at the bottom of your post, add your website URL.

8. Well placed links can provide a targeted and steady flow of traffic to your web site. If you do nothing to increase the links leading to your site, you will be losing out on targeted traffic that others have already taken advantage of.  Not having reciprocal links from other websites to your personal site will have a negative effect on the way search engines rank your web site.  This was discussed in one of my earlier Marketing Tips.

These will be enough ideas to keep you busy promoting your website and will never end as long as you are on the Internet. You should always be looking for new ideas where you can promote your website with minimal expense.  If possible, set aside thirty minutes at the end of each week to concentrate on these tasks.  To make your website work, you need to invest your time into promoting it on and off the Internet.

* Keep promoting your website day in and day out.
* Try a variety of options.
* Use trial and error to determine what works.
* Spend a little time each week to brainstorm with friends for more ideas on promoting your personal website.
