Lisa needs help with her vertical blinds

February 14th, 2007 by Anna

I have a favorite blogger (besides myself of course… um… kidding) anyway, I enjoy reading posts by Lisa Barone over at the Bruce Clay, Inc. blog. Yesterday she posted about the Google Agent Rank Patent. I thought you blAAwg folk would enjoy the read and maybe have some interesting comments about the potential for this becoming a reality.

Basically, the patent involves Google knowing who is authoring what, and instead of ranking on trust for a site (for example) they also assign a value to the individual author.  Lisa mentions that this just doesn’t seem right because she should be able to write about her vertical blind woes (if you can help her, please write to her ;)) and what she had for breakfast on one blog, and about SEO on the Bruce Clay blog for instance.  Each person does have a certain style… I certainly wouldn’t want my personal blog somehow influencing the ranking of this blog.

Anyhow, I know some of you will want to dig deeper than I did for info on this, and will probably have a lot of insight, so feel free to comment here, or post in the forums with your thoughts.

Fair warning, Lisa dislikes Wikipedia, haha… so you will see a little wiki bashing in her post…which I appreciate.  I’d love to see your real estate websites always outrank wiki stuff…. and national sites that start with an R or end with a ‘gain’. ;)

Happy Valentines Day everyone! :)

  1. Haha. Thank you so much for brining more exposure to my vertical blind dilemma! Oh yeah, and for highlighting that crazy Google patent too. :)

  2. Lisa, you always make me giggle! I would think about getting the vertical blinds within the window glass. A big plus is that you don’t have to dust them and Jack-Jack can simply play with the string. ;-)

  3. Hmm, I live in an apartment so I don’t think the apartment managers would be to keen on that idea. :) Little Jack Jack is a devil kitty. I’ve only been in this apartment for a month and he’s already costing me money!

I tried to force the misbehaving blind back into position but it doesn’t seem to want to cooperate.

  4. hahaha, the glory of an apartment (I too am an apartment dweller). They have spare blinds they can just pop in place when one is tweaked. There’s usually a clicky thing @ the top you can twist. If you have the maintenance come to fix it just say you just noticed it was out of whack, tee hee ;)

  5. I have twisted, pulled, yanked, begged and pleaded with that blind clicky thing and we still cannot reach an agreement. I think my best bet at this point is to flirt with the maintenance people. ;)

  6. ha ha ha, go with what works!

  7. I would recommend wearing a low cut top… Just as insurance!

    Kristina

  8. *looks down* Yeah, I don’t think that will work in my particular case. ;)

    Lisa

  9. So are the blinds stuck open or closed?

(The very final click of your car alarm clicker, before it dies forever, will leave your car either open or closed… Which would you choose?)

    Dan

  10. Oh, they’re stuck closed. Permanently, annoyingly, my-apartment-is-now-very-dark closed.

    Lisa

  11. (Though I admit, being stuck closed is probably better than being stuck open. Unless I start charging for the view.)

  12. You would think the maintenance people would fix the blinds for you - especially on Valentine’s Day!

    Happy Valentine’s Day ladies. :)

  13. Happy V Day, Glenn :)
