Another good find…
February 21st, 2007 by AnnaMaybe I should do a weekly recap like Lisa @ Bruce Clay Blog does… but for now, I will post nuggets of wisdom as they occur to me or to others on various blogs in a disorderly fashion until such a time arises that I get my blogging life more organized. haha
Anyhow, FamousAgents.com had a great post about testimonials. Ahhh, remember what testimonials are folks? They are often times a forgetten art. I see tons of websites with the Testimonials page blank! (tsk-tsk)
It is true that the best salespeople for your business are your past clients. Word of mouth hasn’t changed except that now it travels SO much faster because it’s online so much versus a one-on-one person-to-person sort of thing. One testimonial on your site, or a blog post about you on a client’s family blog (yes you are likely doing business with someone who has a far-reaching online voice) is viewed by several people… one good (or bad) comment can really impact your business.
So in your quest for leads, don’t neglect the testimonials section of your website…

The testimonials page can carry alot of wieght with pospective clients. They like to see what others are saying about you. Another page that is often times neglected is the “about” page. Write your about page to reflect about your family, your interests and not your real estate accomplishments. Be different, almost all agents write about their awards etc. on this page. You just might be amazed at how many visitors read your about page and find that they have some of the same interests as you. You have started building rapport and didn’t even know it.

It’s true about the “about” page; some agents go way overboard with the awards and “I’m so great” stuff. You want to let them know you are qualified though. There is a balance between talking all about your 6 dogs and 10 birds and your 20 grandchildren and only talking about how great you are as your head inflates before your prospect’s eyes, hehe. Finding the happy medium is a great way to go.
The best part about a bio page is when an agent talks about why *they* love the area so much and highlight some of the best qualities of the areas the serve. That makes it more personal in a way totally related to real estate.

Testimonials are huge…I know when looking for a specialty good I trust my close friends and who they use…word-of-mouth advertising is priceless.
