More Advanced Search Options in Google
March 13th, 2007 by AudreyI came across an article today that mentioned the fact that Google has released 71 new Search Keywords for you to use to make finding certain information quick and easy. These new Search Keywords should help you Realtors out a little because a few of them deal directly with specific demographics that would be helpful for you to include on your websites for perspective residents.
Basically, the way these work is that you would go into Google and do a search for the area you are interested in, followed by the search keyword. For example, if I wanted to know the Geographic Coordinates of Anaheim, I would search “Geographic coordinates Anaheim.” You’ll notice that this brings up organic results ranging from the URISA site, The city of Anaheim’s official website and even Wikipedia. You’ll also want to note that I did not use quotation marks in my search.
Now, you won’t always get what you’re looking for. For instance, when I tried looking up “Land Use Anaheim,” the top five results were for things like lawyers specializing in Land Use contracts and things of that nature.
The cool thing though is that on some of these searches, it will bring up results for you right at the top of the search results page without forcing you to click onto a website to get your answer. For instance, a search for “Religion USA” will give you the specific information right there in the search results.
Not all of these are perfect, some of them are just givens, but overall it’s a pretty cool list. Also, if you’re in the heat of an argument with a friend about what album a certain song was on, you can use the Music: search keyword to find the info quickly and win the argument!
