Google, Meet Zillow…

June 14th, 2007 by Anna

Sometimes when someone leaves a company it is a big change for the person who is making the move, but the company (alas) moves on like the amoeba that business can be.  Ebbing and flowing, regrowing limbs, etc. (ok I know amoebas don’t have limbs, but I switched analogies ;))

And sometimes when a person moves onto a new venture it sends shockwaves throughout an industry.

I think the news that Vanessa Fox of Google Webmaster Central is leaving the big “G” for Zillow is closer to the shockwave side!  I recently saw Vanessa during some SMX Advanced presentations, and she represented her team well.  She has done so much for webmasters through Google, she will be missed by all.

Vanessa says that the change is too good to pass up as Zillow is a new and evolving part of vertical search that she wants to be a part of.  We know you real estate folk have mixed feelings about Zillow (love, hate, indifference)… but one thing’s for sure - watch out for what’s on the horizon for Zillow - Vanessa Fox rocks!

  1. Ok, so I am posting a comment on my on post … Over at Matt Cutts’ blog there is a great comment about a Zillow Zestimate: http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/wishing-vanessa-the-best/#comment-106546 I know that some of you will get a nice chuckle there. :)

  2. Zillow.com should change the name from “Zestimates” to a more appropriate name “GUESS-IDIOTS”
