Overcoming the Hurdles of Marketing in Real Estate
February 7th, 2008 by AudreyOne of the things I hear most often is “Well, I just don’t have the time to market myself.” If you aren’t willing to spend a little time on your marketing efforts, you won’t be seeing the kind of results possible if you were to specifically dedicate a certain amount of time to the process. For every 20 minutes you spend reading up on some marketing tactic, you should spend an hour attempting to implement it on your own site. No matter if you are brand-new to Real Estate or a seasoned agent, marketing your website is a very necessary process in today’s market.
Let’s start at the beginning. Expanding on your knowledge of general marketing by researching and reading up on your options will help you to see what portions of your current efforts are missing. One of the ways that you can do this is taking a look at your competitors to see what they have done. Is there any particular form of marketing they used that stuck out in your mind? Chances are, if you remember it, it’s probably going to have the same effect on your visitors.
Next, work on determining what your goals are. Are you looking to increase traffic to your website? Getting plenty of traffic, but want to increase your number of leads? It’s important that you recognize what end result you want before beginning any marketing effort. Remember, simply saying “I want more business from my website” is not enough. You need to be specific in order to successfully attain your goals.
Now would also be a good time to take a look at your technological skills and familiarity. If there is some sort of technology that you would like to utilize in the process of achieving your goals, but feel uncomfortable diving into on your own, there are many companies that can handle these things for you. It is important to recognize that technology will allow you to get yourself out there, however it will do nothing to force your viewers to take action; being compelling is up to you.
