Checking the Google index?
April 4th, 2008 by AudreyThis weeks Marketing Tip, Demand the Spotlight, talked about making sure that the websites and directories that you are submitting your site to are beneficial to your online marketing efforts. In light of that, I thought I would write a quick overview of how to search Googles index for a specific website.
Go to Google and do a search for the URL of the website (or page) that you are interested in having your link on.
As you can see, by doing a search for the domain name, it brought up the website I was interested in as the top result. This will also work if you’re wondering if a particular page from a website is indexed.
Knowing whether a particular page is indexed or not can be helpful when making your decision on whether or not to submit your site to it.

There are countless indexed directories that are still worthless because of how they code the link to you site.
Even many pay directories will not pass Page Rank or even have your link crawled because of the way they set their links up.
Just because a directory is indexed doesn’t mean it’s OK to list your site there. Indexing is just one of several factors.

Excellent point Jay. Just because a page is indexed, that does not mean it is of value. Thanks for bringing it up!
