Get Socialized
December 3rd, 2008 by AnnaI have been repeating myself about getting involved in social media networks nearly as much as I have talked about quality content for your real estate websites! Have you been socialized yet?
I thought you could use a little encouragement, and a little help getting started, so I journeyed to the internet and created the official Advanced Access Facebook Group! Anyone is welcome to join our group and also befriend me on Facebook (you’ll see me on the group page).
A group on Facebook is easy to join and use, I promise! Plus I’ll be there providing another way to contact Advanced Access directly. We can discuss the things that are important to you, you can chat with other Advanced Access clients, and anyone else interesting in improving their real estate websites. On the discussion board I have asked for Marketing Tip topic suggestions, feedback, questions, and anything else you want to discuss. Of course, it can be fun too; we can talk about the holidays, the weather, or whatever comes to mind.
The point is this is a useful tool that you can use for your clients, and the best way to show you how it works is for me to do it for all of you! So come on by any time and join us.
I also created a Twitter account for Advanced Access for anyone who is interested. I’ll be posting links and tidbits that may not expand into entire blog posts or Marketing Tips, but that will be valuable to you. Be sure to sign up for Twitter as well, and follow me there.
People are talking about real estate; you need to be a part of the conversation! Remember, we’re here to help you learn new things – take us up on the offer.

Hey Anna, I created a group on Facebook and would like to post a button/link to it on my website. How do I create a button similar to the one you used in this post (“find us on facebook”). I am familiar with how you create a badge for a personal profile on facbook, but I cant find anything that talks about how to create a button/badge for a group.

Hi Anna,
Will using social media sites such as Facebook, and others help improve page rank of my website? If so, what social media networks are most valuable in regard to improving page rank of my website?
Thank you in advance for your help,
Irene and Jim

Well the first thing I’d say is the page rank is not the metric I’d be looking at so much. I would concentrate on traffic, and leads. Those are your goals above all else with regard to your site.
Will it increase your page rank? I suppose the incoming links to your site can’t hurt; but most services no-follow links, so it would be more for traffic, less for rank. However, if people like what they see about you on a site like Facebook, they may choose to link to you from their site.
I would really consider using Facebook. Join our group to check it out.

Thanks Anna,
But I would prefer it to say “find me on facebook” not “us”, since I am a one-man team. Any ideas? I was thinking you got it from facebook somewhere?

In addition to the Facebook and Twitter buttons, I’m on a few other similar sites, like LinkedIn. Are you saying that I can put such buttons on my A/A website? I would also like the “recent viewers” badge like you have on your right column – is there a written tutorial for doing these things, that you can direct me to?

@Bob – yes you can put these buttons on your AA site!
You can also use mybloglog to see recent visitors who use that service.
There is not a written tutorial for this, but maybe an upcoming Marketing Tip about this is in order.
In the meantime, just let me know what questions you have and I’ll help you out
