New Year, New Approach
January 7th, 2009 by AnnaWhether you have a site that has been online “forever” or you are a “newbie”, you have the chance to start fresh. The new year is a great time to take inventory. We know you need to have clear direction for your budget, your time, and your marketing plans to make this year a productive year amidst the uncertainties we all face.
While I can’t organize your whole life, myself and another team member have been busy working on a series for this month to help you get the most from your website, and online marketing in general. We want you to have confidence the your marketing strategy as you move forward in the new year.
As we ease you back into the first week resuming Marketing Tips, I will simply give you a preview of some topics we will cover.
Content – (GASP!)… I know this is shocking, but yes, we will talk about content. Freshen it up, create some, no copying - you need to have quality, unique content. Content about your listings would be great too!
Social Media – What are the benefits of sites like Twitter, Facebook, Trulia, Zillow, ActiveRain, etc?
Blogging – What are the advantages of community, showing expertise, etc?
Q&A Sites – More about building community, and being the trusted expert or “voice”. Sites like Trulia Voices, Zillow Advice, Yahoo Answers, ActiveRain Q&A, Answerbag.com, and Mahalo Answers are available as your platform to reach your target audience.
Event Marketing – Hosting Open Houses and local real estate events to build community (there’s that phrase again) and advertise on sites like upcoming.yahoo.com, zvents.com, and evenful.com.
Landing Pages – They aren’t just for pay-per-click anymore!
Calls To Action – You want people to do something once they get to your site, right? What is that exactly?
Getting Organized – Do you have hundreds or thousands of pages? We love giving you unlimited content! But do you use the pages? Do you remember what they are? Getting organized can help you make your site more effective. If you’re getting lost, your visitors might be getting lost too.
Website Check – Going beyond organization, we want to provide a helpful checklist at the end of the series so you can identify not only the neglected and under-active parts of your site, but also the most important and profitable areas of your real estate website.
Some of these topics will be intertwined, but all are important. If you have specific questions about any of these topics (or additional topics), please comment and we will do our best to include them in our series!
Thank you, and Happy New Year!
