An Interview With Marlow Harris
Advanced Access: How did you get started in the Real Estate Industry?
Marlow Harris:. I had an arts background. I was an arts administrator but due to a death in the family, had to enter the real estate business. I thought I’d just do it and take care of the business for a short time….. which turned in to 20+ years.
AA : Do you have a specialty or favorite niche market group?
MH: Artists. Unusual Homes. Anything out of the ordinary.
AA: At what point did you realize your need for a website? Describe your journey to Advanced Access and why you chose us as your provider.
MH: It was late in the ‘90’s. Lots of crappy websites out there, but I had an idea for a real estate magazine. So I looked for a web site provider that allowed me to customize and add content without any storage limit.
AA: How has your real estate website impacted your business?
MH: About 30% of my business comes from my website. Having that is the edge I need to get listings, but also attracts a lot of buyers.
AA: What other resources through Advanced Access and life in general have contributed to your success?
MH: I love the SEO tips I’ve received from AA over the years. It’s allowed my website to stay high in the search engines all this time.
AA: Share with us some information about a recent transaction that began as a result of your website.
MH: I got an email from a gal in Italy who saw my website. We started “chatting”. She couldn’t come here, but she sent her Mom to look at a few houses instead. She bought a $1.7M house sight-unseen.
AA: What are some of your goals for your website and your online presence?
MH: Just trying to keep it fresh and high in the search engines.
AA: Tell us a little about your family, your history, and what you like to do in your spare time.
MH: Spare time? Art. Writing. Reading. Husband and 3 kids keep me busy! In addition to www.SeattleDreamHomes.com I also have several blogs, including www.360Digest.com and www.UnusualLife.com. I am also an occasional contributor to Inman News and I moderate a real estate blog for the Seattle PI (http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/realestate/author.asp?author=43400&x=12&y=9
