REALTOR® by Day, Underwater Basket Weaver by Night

We all have our careers, but at the end of the day most of us return to the comforts of home and enjoy the lives we lead outside of the daily 9 to 5.  Aside from enjoying time with our friends and family, many of us also indulge ourselves in various hobbies and activities.  Whether you collect stamps, hike, or practice the lost art of underwater basket weaving, you are probably missing out on a significant opportunity to gain inbound links to your website.

In our technology driven world we now find a seemingly unlimited number of resources related to our hobbies and interests on the internet.  Many of us participate in forums, follow niche specific blogs, and frequent sites related to our hobbies and interests.  But rarely do we think of the great opportunity that presents itself through mixing business with pleasure.

Resources such as forums and blogs provide a means to share your real estate website through comments and thread posts.  Though your real estate site may be unrelated, it is not required to be subject specific when displaying your URL.  Bear in mind that these are the URL’s you are prompted to input when commenting on a blog or in a thread.  Many blogs and forums ask for your URL as part of your signature.  I am not suggesting that you visit your favorite hobby or interest site and start leaving comment spam filled with links to your real estate website.

Forums and other social mediums also provide a great opportunity for links.  Often these networks provide you with a profile page.  In most cases you are again given the option to display your website URL.  This is another great opportunity for an inbound link.  If you can customize the links, you can use keyword rich anchor text such as “Shamarie Real Estate” as the link.

This concept can be applied to a number of outside activities.  Do you sponsor a local sports team or group?  Do they have a website?  As part of the sponsorship, request a link to your website from their website.  Do you belong to any special groups or clubs?  If they have a website, ask for a link to your website from theirs, or suggest that they create a member profile page where you can display some information about yourself and provide your website URL.

The face of link building is ever changing and finding link resources can be a tedious task.  But sometimes potential resources are right in front of you, you’re just not seeing the opportunity

Internet Word of the Day
Actually today, there are two terms that you need to become familiar with:

RAM: \ram\ - Hardware inside your computer that retains memory on a short-term basis and stores information while you work. RAM is one of the things that make your computer run faster. It comes in 32-bit, 64-bit, 128-bit, 256-bit, and higher, and you can add additional "blocks" of RAM, depending on your computer and the function for which you utilize it for.

ROM: \rom\ - Built-in computer memory that can be read but not written to. ROM contains the programming that allows your computer to boot up each time you turn it on, and it contains essential system programs that neither you or the computer can erase.

Did you know?

RAM, Slang usage of this term often describes someone who does not possess the mental capacities required for the task at hand, as in, "I wouldn't ask him to do it, he's a little short on RAM." Actual RAM comes in a variety of forms: DRAM (Dynamic Random-Access Memory); IRAM (Intelligent Random-Access Memory); MRAM (Magnetic Random-Access Memory); SRAM (Static Random-Access Memory), and SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM).

ROM, Unlike a computer's random access memory (RAM), ROM does not lose its data when the computer power is turned off. It is sustained by a small, long-life battery. (If you ever run the hardware setup procedure on your computer, you are in effect writing to ROM.)
