Real Estate Websites by Advanced Access

Translation Please!

The world is growing smaller every day.  We all think of the Internet as a nationwide information resource, but now is the time to recognize that in the “worldwide web” we are speaking to an even larger global audience.  In your new Website Statistics program in Classic 3.0, it is possible to easily determine the 'Country of Origin' in your 'Cumulative Reports' section.  If you download your report, you will most likely see people visiting your website from countries around the world.  Recently, I was searching for information on the Internet and happened to click on a website that was written in Chinese!  Although we recognize that www is an acronym for "World Wide Web," it still sometimes surprises us when we run across websites from all over the world with different languages.  Unfortunately, the Chinese site did not include a 'translation' link, (and I don't speak Chinese) so I had to move on to another website.

How many clients do you work with for whom English is NOT their first language?  How many do not speak English at all?  If you're working with clients who do not speak English, it would be in your best interest to offer a translation link on your website.  Going one step further would actually be writing information in the language you would like to share.  Many of our clients have some fabulous translation pages, and their website clearly indicates that they can help with clients who have trouble with English as the primary language.  There are several programs available on the Internet that make it easy for your website visitors to translate information into their primary language that we have shared below.

There are several companies that offer this type of product to translate your website. Our current FREE favorite is the Google Language Translator.

To add this link to your website, please follow the instructions below:

- Scroll down to the 'Translate' section on the page.
- Type your website into the section where it says 'Translate a web page'
- Select what language into which you wish to translate your site
- Click on the 'Translate' button

Once the page has been translated, copy the URL in your 'Address Bar' and login to your Virtual Office.  You can then create a button or text link that goes to the translated page you created.
