March 2001 Newsletter

Advanced Access is here to Stay!

We have received inquiries of late from our clients who expressed concern about our competitors who are announcing major layoffs and cutbacks in their staff in an effort to stay afloat. Please be assured that in contrast to many of the layoffs announced by the "dot coms," Advanced Access continues to grow and prosper, thanks to the loyalty and support of our valued clients.

As our customer base increases, we are hiring additional Account Executives, Assistants, and Administrative personnel to ensure our level of customer service remains at the highest standards. As Advanced Access is a family-owned corporation we are not beholden to outside stockholders. Therefore, our primary goal is the satisfaction of our valued clients. The DS3 is HERE and NOW…

In our last newsletter we announced that we were upgrading our high-tech equipment and broad band connections to store and host our clients' websites. We are proud to announce that at long last, our DS3 connections are active, which means faster access to your website, and room for expansion in the future.

Scott Johnson, our Director of Network Engineering, researched and coordinated this major project. Congratulations to Scott and the entire T3 transition team for a smooth, uninterrupted conversion to our high-speed connections!

For those interested in the dynamics behind our new DS3 service, here are a few details.

Fiber-Optic Service

Advanced Access is connected to the internet by SONET OC-12 Fiber, configured in a SONET Ring. Translation: the fiber is arranged in a ring, which forms a loop that takes different paths throughout the city so it can be cut in any one point and still work (even less down time for your site.)

We are initially provisioning one DS3 (T3) and 4 DS1s (T1s) out of the total capacity (622.08 Mbps.) Translation: We're starting out using a fraction of the available bandwidth, and will be able to expand as the extra space is needed.

With the extra capacity on the fiber we will have to ability to upgrade our bandwidth in a very short time frame (as opposed to the 5 months necessary lead time to install the initial fiber.)

We've Chosen Internap - A Premier Bandwidth Provider

After many hours of research, we have chosen INTERNAP as our primary DS3 provider.

Internap® Network Services provides high performance connectivity to route your data more efficiently over the Internet. They've built a unique Overlay Network that continually analyzes the traffic situation on every major Internet backbone, then selects the path of least resistance to deliver mission-critical information and communications faster and more reliably.

Why is Internap the best choice for Advanced Access and our customers?

Internap's high-performance IP connectivity provides:

1. Redundancy and availability - Internap introduces economic settlement and redundancy through their connections to multiple backbones;

2. Extensive routing expertise - Internap's intelligent routing technology allows your data to travel across the path of least resistance over the public Internet;

3. Certainty - Internap's service provides end-to-end troubleshooting capability across all the major backbone providers;

4. Dedicated Customer Support - Internap's Network Operations Center is staffed with knowledgeable and experienced troubleshooting engineers that work diligently to monitor and resolve issues related to customer needs, expediting requests through trouble ticketing and issue tracking.

With the addition of our new DS3 connection we can ensure reliable connections and fast loading sites for our valued customers.

New Banners Offered in ListNOW Listing Management System

We have had a great response to our last month's article about banners, and some fabulous suggestions from some of our clients about new messages to add to our current selection. Here are a few new banners we've added by popular request:

 To showcase Properties that are in Golf Communities; and

For those listings that need a little "TLC"

If you have any suggestions for banners, please don't hesitate to contact your Account Executive by email and we'll take your suggestion into consideration.

Will California's Energy Crisis Affect Your Website?

California's energy crisis has been front-page news across the country, especially as the weather warms and the need for energy increases. Just how WILL our energy crisis affect your website, as Advanced Access is headquartered in the midst of Southern California?

In the event of an emergency blackout in our area, Advanced Access' server network is protected by a powerful battery backup, which will protect against short-term interruptions of service. We will continue to upgrade our state-of-the-art equipment to ensure our customers receive the highest level of service and most reliable connections possible at all times, but especially during this emergency.

To our Valued Customers:

Thank you for your business - we appreciate your patronage and support. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please send them to us.

** Refer one of your colleagues to Advanced Access - if they purchase a website, we'll add a FREE MONTH OF HOSTING to your existing contract. **

An Irish wish
May you have warm words on a cold evening,
A full moon on a dark night,
And the road downhill all the way to your door.
