Online Real Estate Convention A Great Success
We're all busy these days, and many of us find it's hard to take time to travel to real estate conventions across the country. That's why it made so much sense to start a VIRTUAL convention for busy real estate professionals like you. Last year, the first National Real Estate On-Line Convention and Exposition attracted over 20,000 attendees. This year the convention attracted the largest gathering of real estate professionals ever. The convention featured 30 national speakers, exhibits at over 200 booths, a Virtual Networking Center and even an On-line Social Center. Visitors to the Expo found fishbowls on the booths, drawings for prizes, a Food Court and even restrooms with 'working plumbing!' Sponsored by the Real Estate Cyberspace Society, they announced that over twenty six thousand real estate professionals (from 37 countries) pre-registered for this one-of-a-kind convention. There is no charge to attend and the event is open to the real estate community worldwide.

An Inspiring Story in the Spirit of Fair Housing Month This month marks the 35th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, the law that prohibits discrimination in the financing, rental or sale of any dwelling based on race, religion, sex, national origin, handicap or family status. Recently we came across a story about one of our new clients, Ankica "Ana" Jaksic, from Fair Oaks, California. As a way of celebrating Fair Housing Month, we would like to share Ana's inspirational story with our readers.
Ana's journey, although it has been fraught with obstacles along the way, is a classic American success story. Living in Yugoslavia during a war was difficult; and Ana says "I don't know what was worse - trying to survive during the war or being a refugee and living for two full years in one small room without water, a bathroom, a washing machine or a dishwasher. We forgot what things like good food, fruit, sodas and candies looked like or how they tasted." Ana came to America, hoping to find a better life for her husband and two children. It was a challenge for Ana and her husband - trying to start over in a foreign country, master a new language and provide food and shelter for their two hungry children was a constant struggle. Ana and her husband found jobs, and worked hard to better their quality of life. Eventually Ana and her family adjusted to life in America. After a few years, Ana purchased a duplex and she and her husband were now not only homeowners, they were landlords with a tenant who helped pay their mortgage. One year later, Ana bought another house and after a remodeling project, sold it for a profit and purchased yet another property. The American dream of home ownership had been fulfilled for Ana and her family, and she decided to pursue her real estate license. Ana's story is one that makes us proud to be Americans, and as real estate professionals, fulfilled by our participation in helping all fellow citizens experience the rewards of owning a home. We wish Ana the best of success in real estate, and in her new Internet Marketing program. Fair Housing Month provides an opportunity to place special emphasis on our goal to increase homeownership throughout our country. Together, we can advance toward a future where all our citizens have access to a key element of the American Dream -- homeownership.
Featured Employee of the month: Maria Thompson This month we're featuring Maria Thompson, one of our talented Design Specialists. Maria has been on board for nearly a year, and she receives rave reviews from our clients who are so impressed by her knowledge, energy and commitment to her work. In the fast paced Internet industry, it's refreshing to meet someone who will take the time to really get to know her customers. A person who loves interacting with people, Maria is especially talented at anticipating your needs and delivering the highest level of service. Easygoing yet hard working, Maria grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. An only child, her faithful companion was a Rottweiler named Angel. She attended Western High School and Berkeley College, then worked for the Department of Labor for five years. After that she joined the United States Army, where she worked as a Paralegal for two years. She moved to California in October 2001. Maria has been married for seven years to Thomas Thompson. The couple has three children: two boys and a girl. When she has spare time, Maria enjoys reading and shopping. Some day, she would like to go to law school. In the meantime, Maria contributes her time and writing talent to the Home Office and Online Auctions columns for the website www.BellaOnline.com - devoted to women's issues. One of our clients recently wrote in: ADVANCED ACCESS has everything I've been looking for & more. My plan was to hire a webmaster or become one. That won't be necessary now. Maria Thompson is a breath of fresh air! She's so excited about sharing all this product has to offer, my questions are answered before they're asked. It's a joy working with an expert who truly loves their job. When I called the other night after Maria's shift, your operator went out of her way to find Jamie, (2 more pros) who got me started with Intellicards & how to navigate through the Admin pages. Can you tell I'm impressed? Thanks to everyone! Sincerely, Randy Knight
