Senior Housing Designation Joins NAR Family The Real Estate
Buyer’s Agent Council of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF
REALTORS® has signed a letter of intent to purchase the
Seniors Real Estate Specialist program from Real Estate
Business Services Inc., a subsidiary of the CALIFORNIA
ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®.
This deal will make SRES part of the official NAR family of
professional certifications and designations and put the
SRES courses into REBAC’s effective course delivery system.
The designation, which certifies that a practitioner is
proficient in serving clients aged 50 and older, has surged
in popularity in recent years, say Gary Thomas, chairman of
the board of SAREC. Last year, the number of practitioners
with the SRES designation was up 30 percent from 2004, and
today, more than 15,000 NAR members have earned the
designation.
“Older home buyers have special financial and lifestyle
needs,” says NAR President Thomas M. Stevens. “The SRES
designation indicates advanced education and commitment to
this population. With the oldest of the baby boomers turning
60 this year, and given the importance of the emerging
senior market nationwide, the number of REALTORS® earning
this designation is likely to increase dramatically over the
next few years.”
The SRES designation was developed by the Senior Advantage
Real Estate Council, which was created in 1997 to focus on
the needs of home buyers and sellers aged 50 and over.
To earn the SRES designation, you must complete a two-day
course covering issues such as specialized housing options
and asset protection. You can then carry the designation on
a provisional basis for as long as one year, and must
execute three senior property transactions during that time. Reprinted

Featured Client of the Month – Matthew Pellerin
HISTORY &
HIS START IN THE INDUSTRY
Although no
one in his immediate family had any involvement or influence
in his life regarding the real estate industry, he
commented, “…recently, my Mom has since relocated from
Texas, and has accepted a full-time position with
Broker Agent News, based here in the Arizona area.”
Married to
his lovely wife, Tracy, in April of 1998, Matthew has one
daughter, Katelyn, who is currently a freshman in high
school. Both Matthew and Tracy went to the same high school
– Paradise Valley High School – where they first met. He
attended Paradise Valley Community College, while she
attended Arizona State University. Matt’s concentration of
studies included business administration, while Tracy
majored in the field of Social Services.
Matthew
recalled his initial start in the real estate industry.
“…I stated in 1994, training under a top producer in the
area, and eventually was brought in under REALTY EXECUTIVES,
as a full-associate in 1995 in the very same office.”
He continued, “…I thought being a land developer would
be a very interesting job, but I was not interested in
attending college for a prolonged time, and so I eventually
tried my hand at developing. I soon found I really, really
enjoyed the actual real estate aspect of selling and buying
homes. I am thrilled when I get to interact with
developers, and the experience I had helps me see the entire
picture when I represent my clients, but I really enjoy the
real estate aspect of the industry much, much more.”
Matthew
reflected on his early experience, “…I’ve been involved
and actually started a construction and land investment
venture, but soon found that I probably wasn’t going to
succeed at that part of the industry because again, I missed
the interaction with the actual purchasing and selling
client, and soon found myself returning to the center of the
real estate transaction industry. That involvement with the
client is something I really, really enjoy. Working with
people instead of floor plans excited me much more, and the
actual fulfilling of the so-called “American Dream” is for
me, very rewarding and something that I truly enjoy!”
Since
becoming a client, Arizona-based Pellerin of Paradise
Valley Realty Executives has become an official member
of the ADVANCED ACCESS extended family,
distinguishing himself by utilizing many – if not all – of
the company’s products, programs, and services to increase
his real estate Internet presence.
“The
ADVANCED ACCESS private client forum has been and still
is the single most useful support system tool ADVANCED ACCESS has
come up with to date,” Pellerin states. “…It is a small “family” of friends and peers where
we all help each other learn and grow our businesses.”
HIS
IMPRESSION AND REFLECTIONS ON THE REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY
Pellerin
offered his insight and reflections. “…Since I began in
the real estate industry in 1994, I have been witness to
quite a bit of growth in the industry, both in very active
periods of buying and selling and in stagnant periods as
well. First, the overall professionalism of my peers in the
industry has obviously improved, and has seen a certain ebb
and flow because of those periods of time when all kinds of
folks were getting involved in the industry. Obviously,
those who have been successful are still around, while those
who haven’t been are no longer in the real estate industry.
They certainly needed to have a very clear plan on where
they wanted their business to be at some point in the
development of their career,” he commented. He
continued, “…Secondly, I continue to be impressed with
how many friendly, warm, people-persons there are in real
estate industry. They are dedicated to their career, very
professional, and always organized to be the most effective
representative possible. Those are the kind of people I
enjoy working with, and even when business is slow, they get
referrals from their previous success stories, and as a
“newbie” in the industry just starting out, this is perhaps
THE most important aspect of their new career that they need
to get really good at in a very short time! You need to
treat each and every person or client like they are your
first client – and always as a member of your own family!
HIS
OFFICE’S MARKET – The Greater Phoenix-Arizona Region, “The
Valley of the Sun”
Matthew and
his Paradise Valley Realty Executives Team
representing REALTY EXECUTIVES, services the area
known as “The Valley of the Sun,” which includes the
communities of Carefree, Cave Creek, Central Corridor, North
Phoenix, Paradise Valley, Pinnacle Peak, Rio Verde, and
Greater Scottsdale-Arizona real estate and luxury homes for
sale.
Matthew’s
achievements with his ADVANCED ACCESS products have
also been recognized nationally, as he is featured in the
November 2006 edition of RISMedia’s Real Estate
Magazine on page sixty-nine in the article entitled,
“Part of the Family – Phoenix Agent Pulls Double-Duty as a
Client and Mentor for ADVANCED ACCESS.” You can
visit
www.rismedia.com, and simply open the current issue of
the magazine to read this informative and insightful
feature.
MATTHEW
PELLERIN TELLS WHY ADVANCED ACCESS?
He
continues, “…I enjoy interacting with all the people at
ADVANCED ACCESS, the different products, the support,
the many features and of course, how far the company will go
for each individual client or customer. The free stuff that
I receive is also a huge benefit, the Weekly Marketing
Tips, the Monthly Online Newsletter; this is
like an unlimited gold mine. No other company provides that
kind of information to its clients in a consistent, well
presented, and informative and professional-looking format,
and I don’t have to pay an extra dime to receive it!”
NEW PROJECT
Matthew
also is very excited about his newest venture, a Central
Arizona Blog site that will take the place of his current
offering,
www.ArizonaRealEstateNews.com The new site,
www.DesertMusings.com, will offer a much wider range of
information that is geared for the Arizona Real Estate
marketplace. Pellerin stated, “…the new site will offer
some real estate news, living trends, and other interesting
information such as hiking, nature, outdoors and
recreational offerings. The anticipated launch is December
1st of this year, and the site will offer all
kinds of good information for those individuals who enjoy
living in the desert!”
THE FINAL
WORD
Matthew offers these final words, “…I definitely have
been able to grow in the industry, and at first, always
thought I would be pretty much a one-man show. But I find
myself now developing a team, and for me, the experience to
work and serve behind the scene, and working with
ADVANCED ACCESS is something I am certainly looking
forward to as a new beginning. I would NEVER have even
envisioned myself doing something like this – hiring a
full-time Webmaster and Marketing Director, and working to
continue to develop and grow my team under the successful
REALTY EXECUTIVE banner. I have always felt that loyalty is
a big part of the real estate industry, and I will always be
loyal to those folks who have helped me along the way, and
that is precisely the way I feel about the ADVANCED
ACCESS family. They have helped me so much, that the
advice and knowledge that I have received from them has
helped me immensely, and I will continue to proactively work
with their products, programs, and services that are offered
by their fine team of real estate Website experts!”
